Hylas yachts
Hylas yachts for offshore sailing and cruising
A search for Hylas yachts for sale can lead to very different boats. Built by Queen Long Marine in Taiwan, the brand includes sailing yachts and motor yachts, with designs shaped by naval architects including Germán Frers and Bill Dixon. For a Southern Sailor buyer, the starting point is your cruising plan: the passages you want to make, the crew aboard, and how much of the year you intend to spend on the water.
Choosing between Hylas models
Hylas’s sailing range includes the H48 and H57, while its legacy models include the H46, H49, H60, H63, and H70. The power range offers another route to cruising, with models including the M44, M47, M49, and M58. Brokerage availability will vary. Compare the actual yacht’s helm, deck access, accommodation, and machinery spaces; customized interiors and owner modifications mean that two examples need not offer the same experience aboard.
What to review before buying a used Hylas
For a used Hylas sailing yacht, examine rigging and sail records alongside engine servicing, steering, tankage, and electrical equipment. On a power yacht, give propulsion history and maintenance access particular attention. Ask about offshore use, repairs, and the installation of cruising upgrades. A survey and sea trial should investigate the individual yacht and your intended use. Glen can help organize the comparison so the asking price is considered together with condition and any work ahead.
Glen’s Hylas knowledge and buyer representation
Glen brings strong familiarity and experience with Hylas yachts to a broader career in yacht brokerage, offshore cruising, deliveries, teaching, chartering, and racing. His own Trans-Atlantic crossing and years on the water help connect a yacht’s features with the choices you will live with as an owner. Tell Glen how you want to cruise and what matters to your crew. Through Southern Sailor and Atlas Yacht Sales, he can help assess available Hylas yachts and build a shortlist around your needs.
